If you don’t feel as though you love your body or where you are in your life right now, then you are not alone. So many people find themselves in the same situation you are in right now but there are ways that you can try and pull yourself through it.
Invest in your Sleep
Believe it or not, you will spend one-third of your life asleep. You might as well make the most out of it! Get some blackout curtains, reduce the amount of electronics in your room and use some aromatherapy oils. Little things like this can help you to practice self-care. If you want, you might also want to read a book in bed as well. When you do, you will be able to unwind and truly focus on yourself and what you are passionate about. If you still can’t sleep, why not try marijuana? Cannabis can give you a ton of health benefits, including stress relief!
When you move, you allow the energy to flow around your body more and you can also release endorphins too. If you are a couch potato, or if you watch too much television then you might not be giving yourself the chance to truly express your emotions. You may even find that you feel more anxious and depressed as a result. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to get up and move around as much as you can. It doesn’t matter whether you get up earlier so that you can go out on a walk or whether you go to the gym for a quick workout because there is nothing like a bit of exercise to get the blood pumping and those endorphins going.
The food that you put into your body is essentially fuel, so you want to make sure that you are being wise with your decisions. If you are constantly eating junk food then you are going to feel rubbish. For this reason, you need to eat as clean as possible. Drink tons of water, eat a lot of vegetables and also focus on things like fruit, nuts and sweets too. It also helps to consume complex carbohydrates as well as limiting your intake of any processed foods.
Make Time for Relaxation
Take naps when you feel like it, or even treat yourself to a spa treatment. If you want, buy some expensive Epsom salts and have a good soak. Rest and relaxation is crucial if you are on a self-care journey because at the end of the day, you need to let your soul breathe. If you don’t then you may find that you end up being overrun with everything that is going on around you and this is the last thing that you need.
You need to give yourself time to play now and again. Focus on things that you enjoy, such as colouring, painting or even playing the guitar. Then, make time for it in the day. It doesn’t matter how busy you feel as though you are, because sometimes, you need to put yourself first.
The beauty of life lies in the fact that nothing is predictable. No individual can claim to know everything, but the thirst for knowledge is what keeps you eagerly looking forward to the unknown. Therefore, when or if you can, set aside time to experience new things.
Visit a location you haven’t been to before. It can be a place in your city, or out of the country. You can decide to try a new cuisine or a new activity like bungee jumping that you haven’t done before.
The more you open yourself up to new opportunities, the easier it is for you to love your life and everything about it.
Recognize your Achievements
Nothing says self-love more than blowing your own horn. When you cross a new milestone or manage to overcome certain things in life, you should recognize them as achievements. A way to keep track of your achievements is by keeping a list of them.
Keeping a list that you can always look at will make you feel good about yourself. If you feel like there are more things you can add to the list, then do not hesitate to make targets and put in deliberate efforts to accomplish them.
Self-love is all about being aware of what makes you happy and embracing it. Doing so will help you form a more positive view of life and all that it offers.
